Website Hosting

I offer the same services the big hosting companies do, but I work with you, personally, to put together a hosting plan that is designed to fit your individual needs. When you call for help you'll be contacting a real person - not an automated system - someone who is already familiar with you and your website. My server is rock solid and lightning fast. Contact me and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Hosting Rates:

$60 a year hosting plans for basic websites.

Hosting plans for websites running content management systems vary by services needed - contact me to discuss pricing.

Green Hosting:

Lightfalls Design host sites on a web server that has been 130% wind powered since 2008!
Here's why that's important - not only do servers need electricity for power - servers also generate a lot of heat. For every watt of electricity that a server uses, 1-2 watts of electricity are usually required to cool it. At present, between 3 and 4 percent of all electricity (and the associated carbon emissions) used in the world go to running data centers.

Renewable Energy Credits (REC's) have been purchased for 130% of the electricity used to both power and cool the server Lightfalls Design uses. For every REC purchased, a windfarm in Texas generates 1 megawatt of wind power and puts it into the power grid in Texas (the server is located in a data center in Texas). Since REC's cover 130% of the power used by the server, we're not just neutralizing our environmental impact, we're reversing it!

Web Design

Lightfalls Design is a one-person studio in Abingdon, Virginia, run by myself, Jill Sunderlin. I have a reputation for creating websites that are visually stunning and highly functional. Integrating artistic design and technical expertise, I create websites that are distinctive, fresh and affordable.

Working closely with you, I balance your needs, priorities and budget to create an original website, or a redesign of your existing site. For those who need larger websites, and the ability to edit their own website content, I design and develop sites based on the open source Modx framework. I can also host your site at an extremely competitive rate, with guaranteed uptime and the full range of hosting options.

Technology should never intrude on the experience of visitors to your site, so all my coding work is Web Standards compliant. This ensures content will be available to the widest possible audience, whether they are using an old browser or the newest mobile device.

Browse my site, and contact me with any questions you may have about bringing the site you've been envisioning into reality.

About

I'm a web designer, web coder, and certified Apple computer technician with a background in graphic design, stage scenery, and degrees in English and history. I like to learn stuff and I like to create stuff. If it's something that combines a design side with a technical side - that's where I'm happiest. The Web and I are a good fit.

I live outside Abingdon, Virginia, with my daughter Zoe, who is an avid Photoshop user and Scratch animation creator.

I've been a working Web professional since 1999, and I received my first tech certification from Apple in March of 2004.
